Special Olympics Pennsylvania’s Polar Bear Plunge – held in conjunction with the PA Law Enforcement Torch Run – is a fundraising event in which individuals pledge $50 or more for the chance to run or jump into icy cold waters.

Due to the continued increase of COVID-19 cases in 2020 and 2021, Pennsylvania’s highly anticipated Polar Plunge shifted to an all-virtual event for the 2020-2021 season. But, while the format has changed, the need for your support remains the same – helping to provide inclusive sports, health, and school programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Proceeds raised go to help provide year-round sports training and competition for thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities. Your contribution and involvement help athletes achieve their goals, live healthier lives, and have a sense of inclusion in the community.

What is the PA Polar Pop?

We are excited to offer a new safe, at-home challenge. Participants will still register online, commit to raising $50 or more in support of our life-changing programs, do a cold water challenge, and earn cool gear along the way. But, instead of plunging into icy cold waters in a traditional fashion, participants will pop a cold water balloon over their head and challenge five people (friends, family members or co-workers) to do the same.
