SO Colleges

SO Colleges unite college students and individuals with intellectual disabilities to enhance their lives through sports, friendship, advocacy, and other activities.

To get started with us as an SO College, first Create a Club:

A Special Olympics College club functions as an official club on campus and connects college students and individuals with intellectual disabilities to build friendships and build campuses of respect and inclusion. If you are a student at a college or university interested in starting an official Special Olympics College club, please fill out this application.

There are many ways to get involved with Special Olympics PA – Philadelphia (SOPA Philly), whether is spreading the word through an R-word campaign, volunteering at events, coaching a sport, fundraising or playing #Unified with our athletes.

To maintain accreditation as an SO College with SOPA Philly, your club will need to:

  • Volunteer at and/or host 2 Special Olympics Philadelphia events (competition or special events)
  • Participate in the Leprechaun Run (March) and/or Philadelphia Polar Plunge (Friday after Thanksgiving)
  • Host a Whole School Engagement Event – R-Word Campaign or Disabilities/Abilities Awareness
