Each year Special Olympics Philadelphia hosts and participates in several fundraising events. Funds raised through these events enable us to provide opportunities, both on and off the playing field, to more and more deserving athletes in Philadelphia. Whether you’re an individual or a corporate group looking to give back to Special Olympics, we’ve got something for you! March: The Leprechaun Run
A Philadelphia tradition since 1984, The Leprechaun Run offers a 5-Mile Race and 2-mile fun run/walk on the Saturday prior to St. Patrick’s Day. This year we are introducing a Lucky 7-Mile Race!!!
November: Unified Fall Fest Torch Run
November: Philadelphia Marathon
Special Olympics Philadelphia is proud to join the Philadelphia Marathon as a charitable partner. Running a marathon is a pretty extreme challenge, and we invite you to reveal your inner champion for Special Olympics as part of your training. Our athletes face challenges every day, both on and off the playing field or race track. We hope they will inspire you to be brave in YOUR attempt! Members of Team Special Olympics will be able to race the distance of their choice during the Philadelphia Marathon weekend (Full Marathon, Half Marathon, or 8k).
November: Philadelphia Charity Ball
The Philadelphia Charity Ball is two-fold: to raise funds for non-profit organizations focused on youth in Philadelphia, and to inspire the young people of Philadelphia to make philanthropy a central part of their lives. It is a formal celebration and gathering that has raised millions of dollars for a variety of worthwhile charities over the years. The Ball now benefits Special Olympics Pennsylvania Philadelphia.
December: Philadelphia Polar Plunge
Take an icy dip for Special Olympics in an above ground pool that’s as close to 0 degrees as possible! Participants will be Freezin’ for a Reason as they warm the hearts of our athletes!
